Knoxville Public Library Board of Trustees

December 6, 2011

The December meeting of the KPL Board of Trustees was called to order by President Terry Mauer; in attendance were board members Peck, Hickman, Schoenwetter, Flesner, Chapman, Mastin, and Tarochione, as well as Librarian Pat Rose.

The November minutes were approved as read and there was no correspondence.The treasurer's report was prepared and reviewed by Treasurer Jill Hickman. Bills were presented for payment and Reva Schoenwetter made a motion to pay them; this motion was seconded by Debbie Mastin. Unanimous board approval followed.Librarian Rose read the report she prepared, which highlighted the library's useage and pertinent library information from the past month.

In Unfinished Business,Doug Slaton was not present to update us on his progress with the DoubleDay billing issue, however Pat is once again receiving collection calls for the disputed bill. Doug Slaton initiated the process of obtaining the corporate credit card during the past month and Pat should be able to use it to buy books next month.The town clock purchase was approved by the City of Knoxville and they will join Historical Sites and The Knoxville Public Library in purchasing a clock. Expense for the purchase will be shared equally by the three groups.

In New Business, a motion to present a monetary Christmas bonus to each KPL employee was made by Reva Schoenwetter. Mary Chapman seconded the motion and unanimous Board approval followed.President Mauer expressed a desire to purchase a book to commemorate the life of Joe Burgess, which would be added to the library inventory. Joe and Rose Burgess have been instrumental in helping the library throughout the years, in addition to Rose's being a past president of the KPL. President Mauer will obtain suggestions from the Burgess family about their preferences for a memorial book.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:20 p.m.
